Inspired by a true story, this award-winning tale of big changes within a small business focuses on transcending stereotypes, overcoming biases and finding “the shoe that fits.” With passionate pop energy and a message of self-empowerment, this unforgettable hit will have you dancing in your seat.

he finds the Price & Son shoe factory he has inherited isn’t just on the decline

Charlie Price has only just arrived in London with his fiancé, Nicola, when he learns of his father’s death. Returning to Northampton, he finds the Price & Son shoe factory he has inherited isn’t just on the decline – it’s on the verge of bankruptcy, and it’s clear that in order to keep things running, they’ll have to find a specialty market to cater to. Torn between keeping his father’s legacy alive and pursuing his own dream of a career in real estate, Charlie returns to London. Here he meets Lola: a vivacious drag queen who performs in a nightclub with a troupe of backup dancers, the Angels. Lola mentions how difficult it is to find high-heeled shoes that will support a man’s weight while performing.

Charlie invites Lola and the Angels to the factory, and they get to work designing a new line of “kinky boots” with both sex appeal and support. They plan to take their design to an exhibition in Milan, which will garner attention enough to save the business. As production on the boots gets underway, Charlie and Lola realize how much they have in common, sharing similar feelings toward their fathers. Lola introduces Charlie to her past as Simon, a trained boxer disowned by his father for showing up to a match in drag.

She proposes a challenge to the foreman

Meanwhile, some of the factory workers are skeptical of the changes to the product line, making Lola feel unwelcome. She proposes a challenge to the foreman, Don: to find out who is a better man, each will complete a test of sorts. After scoring against Don but letting him win in a boxing match, Lola gives Don his task: to accept another person for who they are.

Charlie grows increasingly preoccupied with running the factory, and Nicola arrives from London to break things off. He has started putting his own money into the operation. When Charlie learns that Lola plans to have the Angels wear the boots on the runway instead of hiring models, he gets angry, humiliating her in front of the others, and she storms off.

Don has made good on his bet with Lola by accepting Charlie: he has convinced the other workers to forego a week’s pay in order to get the boots finished in time for Milan. When Charlie finds out how much the others have sacrificed in order to see their vision through, he leaves Lola an apology message as he heads to the airport.

With no models for the Milan showcase, disaster is imminent: it looks like Charlie will have to walk the runway. Just when it seems like all will be lost, Lola and the Angels arrive to save the day. Will it be enough to save the factory?
